Tim Walton
Having qualified as a chartered accountant, Tim spent four years as a tax partner at Coopers & Lybrand. Tim joined Grantchester in 1998 as finance director and became chief executive officer in 2000. In 2002, with the agreement of the Non-Executive Directors, Tim orchestrated the £192 million sale of Grantchester to Hammerson, representing a 22 percent premium to adjusted net asset value.
In late 2002, Tim established LXB, the core business at the time being edge-of-town and out-of-town retail investments and development. Two and a half years later, Tim completed LXB’s first portfolio disposal for £360 million to Land Securities. A year on, he oversaw the disposal of the majority of LXB’s newly amassed portfolio to Hammerson for £425 million. In 2007, Tim oversaw the sale of the LXB interest in the food store fund it managed on behalf of Land Securities. Subsequently, Tim put together the IPO in 2009, successfully winning the backing of a number of institutional investors with subsequent equity raisings, now totalling £257 million.

Nick Alford
Nick worked at Edward Erdman from 1989 to 1994, becoming an associate partner within the retail warehouse department, acting for developers, land owners and retailers. In 1994, Nick joined Grantchester, which floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1996. Nick developed a number of retail parks throughout the country (including schemes in Norwich, Milton Keynes, Letchworth and Leeds) which were either retained as investments or sold on. Nick was appointed as the property director and a member of the main board of directors of Grantchester in 2001.
Nick joined LXB in January 2003 as property director. Nick has continued to be directly involved in the acquisition, development and sale of retail parks, food stores and more recently large strategic land opportunities. Nick also oversaw the asset management of the food store fund on behalf of Land Securities. He completed the Fountains Retail Park in Tunbridge Wells anchored by M&S Food and Home in January 2011 and is responsible for the acquisition and development of a number of new development opportunities including schemes in Gloucester, Biggleswade and Rushden.

Carl Barrand
Carl worked for Colliers CRE and its predecessor firms for 21 years gaining particular expertise within the fields of commercial and residential property investment and valuation. He was a director within the valuation department at Colliers for 15 years with particular responsibility for property finance and major projects, including the flotation and subsequent delisting of DFS and the provision of development finance for ‘The Shard of Glass’ at London Bridge.
Carl joined LXB in January 2008, expanding its expertise in both the development and investment markets, having previously been an adviser to LXB. Since joining he has been involved with the acquisition and development of the company’s holdings at Charlton, Biggleswade and the two sites in Stafford .

Brendan O’Grady
Brendan trained as a tax inspector with the Inland Revenue in the Midlands before joining Coopers & Lybrand where he became a partner in 1990. Brendan joined KPMG as a partner in 1996, initially in Birmingham and then in London. Throughout his career in the profession, Brendan specialised in tax with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions.
Brendan became a Principal with LXB in 2007 and leads the finance team. As well as structuring a number of new investment funds and senior debt facilities, Brendan ran the IPO of LXB Retail in 2009 and its 2 subsequent equity issues.

Harry Sadleir
Harry worked at Jones Lang for five years, and Grantchester from 1998 to 2003. After a period at Welbeck Land, Harry joined LXB in 2007.
At Grantchester, Harry was responsible for the development of the Ivy Bridge Retail Park in Twickenham and the £120 million sale of a portfolio of investment properties to CIN. At Welbeck Land, Harry worked on a number of development projects, including a 120,000 sq ft industrial scheme in Guildford comprising 18 units, a new B&Q in Weston-Super-Mare (planning consent achieved at appeal) and a Wickes store in Swansea.
At LXB, Harry is responsible for the development programme at Charlton. Planning consent has been achieved for a new Wickes store which is under construction. In addition consent has been achieved for a new 120 bed budget hotel. Harry is the main contact for the new Sainsbury and M&S stores.

Jon McCarthy
Jon worked for Evans of Leeds Plc before joining Grantchester in 1999. As a development surveyor with Grantchester he was responsible for a number of retail developments around the UK. After a period working as a development surveyor for Homebase, he joined LXB in 2003.
Since joining LXB, Jon has been directly involved in the acquisition, development and sale of retail parks and food stores including major schemes in Didcot and Belfast.

Jo Duffield
Jo worked at Gooch & Wagstaff from 1985 for 12 years, becoming an Associate Partner in the investment department advising on the sale and acquisition of commercial properties. Subsequently she joined Edgerley Simpson Howe Chartered Surveyors in 1997 as an out of town retail sector investment specialist, advising a variety of clients including funds, private individuals and property companies primarily on the acquisition and disposals of investments. Examples of transactions include the funding of Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth by Land Securities and acquisition of a part share in Castlepoint in Bournemouth, Talbot Green Shopping Park, Llantrissant as a JV between SWIP and RREEF and Vue cinemas £70 million sale and leaseback portfolio. LXB projects advised on include the purchases of The Orchard Centre in Didcot and Asda, West Swindon District Centre, the sale of Parc Tawe Swansea to LXB and the purchase of a £50 million portfolio from LXB.
